Pelvic Pain and Chronic Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain can affect both men and women

Pelvic pain affects both men and women. We are seeing more and more people with pelvic pain, often chronic, perhaps because of better awareness that something can be done

It is a complex and debilitating condition of pain over the lumbar spine, pelvis, perineum, testicles, groin and/or abdomen. It may be constantly painful, painful on activity and/or during sexual intercourse.

It is a complex issue requiring a sophisticated appreciation of the interplay between the various potential influences and sources of pain and specialist assessment and treatment.

Specialist Physiotherapy can help improve or resolve chronic pelvic pain and treatments may include exercise, correction of pelvic or spinal dysfunction, myofascial techniques, massage and acupuncture.

Who should you see?

Helen has extensive experience in managing pelvic pain in both men and women. As a women’s and pelvic health specialist, she assesses and treats conditions affecting the pelvis and is qualified to perform internal examinations and internal pelvic treatment.

Howard specialises in spinal pain and neuropathic presentations. His assessment focuses on the pelvis and lower spine, identifying and treating pain originating from these areas, as well as addressing nerve-interface problems that may be irritating the nerves supplying the pelvic region.

In many cases, patients benefit from seeing both Helen and Howard, as their combined expertise provides a comprehensive approach to pelvic and spinal-related pain.

Lower back and testicular pain

For over a year, I suffered from debilitating testicular and lower back pain that severely impacted my quality of life. Despite seeing numerous doctors, urologists, osteopaths, and physios—and undergoing countless tests—there was no clear diagnosis or effective treatment. At just 33, I felt hopeless and resigned to living in constant discomfort.

Then I came across Howard’s practice. His experience and specialisation in the very issues I was facing gave me hope. From our first session, I felt understood—something I hadn’t experienced with any other practitioner. Howard’s knowledge, empathy, and targeted approach brought not only clarity but real, tangible improvement. I can now sit and sleep without pain—something that once felt impossible.

Even just speaking with someone who genuinely understood the complexity of this type of pain was a massive relief. Howard has played a pivotal role in turning things around for me, and I’m deeply grateful.

I’m sharing this in case it helps someone else going through a similar journey. If you’re experiencing unexplained testicular or lower back pain and have exhausted other medical avenues, I urge you to speak with Howard. He changed my life, and I can’t recommend him highly enough.
